The Backstory

Pet Assure began in 1995 as an insurance alternative to help pet parents afford veterinary care.

From the start, we focused on bringing our product to employees through company benefits programs. Over the years, we added to our portfolio: PetPlus in 2015, pet health insurance in 2018, and ThePetTag and Total Pet in 2020.

But even as we grew, we kept our exclusive commitment to the best in employee pet benefits.

Which brings us to Wishbone.

Why Wishbone?
“The growth of pet insurance in the benefits industry skyrocketed in the last few years but offering run of the mill pet health insurance wasn’t enough for us,” explains Becky Schaen, PBS Marketing Manager. “Something was missing.”

Yes, we were offering pet health insurance, but it wasn’t exclusive to the employee benefits space.

To honor our commitment to employees, groups, and brokers, we needed something new. We had to create a product designed solely with employee benefits in mind. Wishbone is that product.

With Wishbone Pet Insurance, every step in the process is planned for employee benefits groups:

1. Enrollment Process – We know that enrolling in group benefits can be stressful. Employees are often faced with too many choices. They experience decision fatigue and get stuck.

The Wishbone enrollment process is natural and low stress. We work with HR to optimize a single plan that meets the group’s needs. Employees simply decide whether to opt-in. For employees looking for additional coverage, we offer 2 wellness riders as an add-on.

And to keep the plan cost-effective, every pet receives a custom quote based on its breed and age.

2. Implementation – As with all our Pet Benefit Solutions plans, implementation is smooth and seamless:

3. Account Management – Every group will have a dedicated account manager, familiar with the ins and outs of employee benefits groups. Plus, we’re rolling out a new process for groups who want to offer insurance as a payroll deduct product. Wishbone’s process allows for clean implementation and smooth monthly deductions.
